Dmitry Nevozhay Extreme progressive the way it should be: diverse, intricate, emotional and heavy. Superalbum by supergroup of virtuosos, their best release up to date, exceeding expectations in every aspect. Prog AOTY

lemniscatusofficial Alkaloid is unique in its style. The continuity of certain themes and ideas across the albums keeps the old fans coming back for more and pushes the new fans to listen all their work. Their songs have a fine balance of finesse and brutality along with absolutely outlandish ideas that I don't think any other band could ever accomplish. Favorite track: The Cambrian Explosion.

Salami Dick Death Fuck yes!!! ULTRA TOP-TIER PROG DETH METAL MASTERS ARE BACK. How in christ’s bloody name was I not alerted to this?! Been on board since day 1 with this band (as all the members are legends in their own right in numerous bands outside of this) and it’s a no questions asked immediate purchase. This time they continue to push their boundaries (as I imagine they will always do, sorta the point of this band) to many more genres outside of Metal to my sheer delight.

Qliphosis 07:48
Outside the endless stupor Of life and death of any one creature There is no objective time No unified place for all Too far to reach Too long to hold on To an existence doomed to shatter No way to merge Before this blink of a life is gone And chronology no longer matters Abscond… Look beyond… Beyond the trap of flesh Forsaken through eternities, by life abhorred For embodied immanence won’t serve To manifest a single overlord Withdraw Foreswear the law of finitude To gain continuous subsistence Outside time If anything can bridge the gaps Mortality cleaves through the cosmos It’s bionts that thrive Where all else will fall, perish and scatter Clandestine hives absorb, revive Feared and shunned by all that crawls And yet only survives the void Of vector collapse Due to their strife Behold A new kingdom sprawls Through the carnage of life’s fallen shells Neither dead nor alive Forever in the shadows to dwell Cthonic Hidden agents abide Coalesce and drive Perpetual rebirth From the other side The Qliphoth stir Catalysts of resurrection By spirit spurred Foraging fatality Digest the world Antagonists of disconnection Like gods unfurl The origin of reality Solo - Linus Solo - Christian And when your flesh at last succumbs They come to take you back as one of their own

Clusterfuck 05:29
Why should we reach for the sky Why bother at all The odds are never good So why Set yourself up for greatness Block out every flaw Lie away every incoherence Declare yourself the law But then again - Are we but amoebas That tread the mill of time? No way to Shangri-La Unless you start to climb Raise cathedrals for man Tear them down in disgust Not because we can But because we must Raising Eden from dust Since our downfall began Not because we must But because we can Utopia All well and good Project what’s missing Unto your inadequate world Make no mistake You’re all alone When the drama unfurls Go ahead Be a god Then face the inevitable Solo - Morean Solo - Christian Decay Wretchedness Clusterfuck Failure All is dead Clusterfuck Disaster Clusterfuck All for nothing Clusterfuck From the ashes of man Crawls a god in disgust Not because he can But because he must Raises temples of lust Starts again without a plan Not because he must But because he can

The cornucopia of incarnation — Blindly, on and on it blunders Nurtured through disease and stagnation Then by decease is torn asunder No more than an eldritch godhead’s toy Since first it squirmed from barren rock Under the eyes of the night The watching Mi-Go Spawned through gaseous ooze In a young protostar’s sickly glow Spores took flight As ethereal clouds diffused Along filaments Connecting planet embryos The firmament Primed now for life’s slow thunder Oblivious, the eons pass The void has severed the baryon oases Where the spores amass To sentient primordial slime Deep inside, the fungi hide Nudging young procaryotes from their stasis A black molasse Patiently biding its time Shades of Shub-Niggurath Eating death Forever spurring life Shades of Shub-Niggurath Anatomy flowing free From rotting sludge A symphony of flesh shall rise From the debris of perished life forms Mycelium weaves a hive that storms unseen Devouring worlds Mother of all Arcane abyss that bears the gods And all that crawls, grows and dies Under the sun Till it comes undone For I am Thanatheros Slaves of Shub-Niggurath Feeding death forever And dreaming life Slaves of Shub-Niggurath Infinitely in reverie Of the womb that bore them They cannot see… Solo - Linus Cruelty — or mercy? Engraved on Charon’s tortured crust The sigils around the universe resound: Ia! Shub-Niggurath! Ia! Shub-Niggurath! Praise the Source Ia! Shub-Niggurath! From Pluto’s tholin wastes Atra! Shub-Niggurath! To Venus’ blistering hells Ia! Shub-Niggurath! No life without you Atra! Shub-Niggurath! Outside the inane flash Of myriad birth chasing death My kingdom reigns supreme Dead, putrid eyes Fetid rotting limbs Discarded shells, Bones and cells All absorbed Into my flesh hovering in the skies All returns To my ageless, timeless dream

The slow cerulean tide Sways calmly like a dream An icy veil, agleam Months of darkness now subside In the blue dawn, halos beam Crystal motes Rise and dance Like fireflies teem The rising sun reveals Mirages from afar Beneath winter’s fading stars Coastal mountains rise like keels Pierce horizons like jagged scars A luring trance Their expanse Stirring yearning’s wheels Debark on this godforsaken shore Cast fate to the wind and get going Fangs like granite reapers soar Where monstrous storms of pain are blowing Brave the glacier tooth and claw Grind a path to Fenrir’s Jaw Like a tombstone clad in hoar Looming vast and ever growing Soft, the flesh of the feeble beasts That crawl, and nameless glory crave Deaf to their own angels’ screams Like insects they squirm over their own grave Rise in splendor Or die with grandeur When the avalanche falls Alive or dismembered No-one remembers But the stone that with siren’s tongue calls Every step a spit in the eye Of perdition waiting with sharpened blades With every breath refuse to die In rock and ice’s vengeful cascades Beckoning A haunting choir Deafening The lifeless silence A reckoning For a fool’s desire Threatening With disembodying violence Crippling tempests Blow rocks Bigger than the heads they crush One last push To the summit A godlike rush Pull up the conquered lands below Triumphant Invincible Like Atlas Lifting the entire world Solo - Christian

Here in the vast sunless void On the outer rim of the sphere of Sol With but dust and the odd asteroid for company We alighted eons ago “The Old Ones were The Old Ones are And the Old Ones shall be Not in the spaces we know, but between them They walk serene and primal Undimensional and to us unseen” (- HPL) When on Earth single cells but bungled Our spores escaped on a young star’s scattering clouds Consigned to mere remote fungal puppetry From our frigid refuge, in perpetuity endowed Nodes of fungous entanglement Traversing the chasm That bodes mortality among us And our life-giving plasm We, the agents of permanence We, the guardians of sentience Solo - Christian Solo - Hannes But what is this now…? Flung Like spidery crumbs Machines have come From the Oort Cloud We watched the monkeys come and go Saw the Star Spawn passing But these… these will change everything

That’s a reality Someone new was moving at zero They’re sure he’s here Yes, the work’s a lot. Careful! Steady him Sudden in energy Who are you? Iä Azagthoth! Alpha Aur 13:23
Adrift between the stars Expelled from Earth And its planet-scorching dearth Our ships of ice A crude device Seeds In despair thrown like dice To find the one world That is ours Forlorn and frozen Sent to breed Lost to the lore But then grace takes us past Pluto’s shores Whence A turgid drove descends Envelops us in spores Guides our flight Through the abyss of night As they claim they have done before A precision slingshot From the orbital plane Towards a boreal beacon And we shall live again Escape to the Goat Stars Nourish with hope those who remained Alpha Aur Primal light Save our souls Take away our pain Eons pass When at last From the void Emerge two giant double stars Time starts anew For polyps long forsaken In the heart of our icy tomb Ancient bodies reawaken The depths of the Northern sky Yield a blaze Like a slow explosion An embrace of rays Twin bloated suns spiral Devour the firmament In their glow, our comet world Becomes germinant again Then suddenly, two more suns Join the dance from afar And in between, a planet swerves Awkward and bizarre Tugged from orbit Of fiery death It seeks the smaller twins And in its wake a satellite A moon for our kin Wobbly seasons now ensue Tempered freeze and thaw As we swirl about the moon And ever closer to it draw Conjoin Withdraw Our vessel set to smash Brace to bore Into the crater of our crash Towards this pockmarked ball of ice we fall Below its crust a liquid ocean calls No return now We came so far In ice encased To crash and burn now Our ship must crack the frozen waste Collision Catharsis of an arcane vision Havoc bursts Into a million shards we shatter Get submersed Into gaping faults we spatter Down we squirm Escape the flash-freeze of the void Like undead worms That refuse to be destroyed And we’re through! Solo - Christian A new world Soon under our control The Mi-Go’s gifts Our gospel to extol A drifting island grows Feeding on light and freedom Keeping each other close Towards our suns we’re seeding At last, the surface calls Where billowing stars adorn our reign Alpha Aur Primal light And so we rise again Here under stars of wonder Their beauty pulled us under A freeing force is leading Towards the heart of meaning We wander in stars of wonder Their beauty pulled us under Joy is seething, life is feeding Our engine at the heart of Eden

about

Numen is ALKALOID’s third album and it’s got some of the band’s most intricate, thought-provoking and batshit insane ideas yet. The album is narrated from the god-like perspective of an ancient alien, who can reshape the entire galaxy with its demonic grunts.
ALKALOID are still bonded together by their love of death metal. After all, this is a supergroup assembled by founding members of OBSCURA, DARK FORTRESS and SPAWN OF POSESSION, but ‘Numen’ finds the Bavarian band playing around with all kinds of genre experiments with, for example, “The Cambrian Explosion” flips tech-death on its horned head with seductive flurries of jazz and flamenco.
ALKALOID are metal’s mad scientists. With ‘Numen’, they’ve concocted another wildly explosive batch of progressive death metal.
