A crude device
Seeds
In despair thrown like dice
To find the one world
That is ours

Forlorn and frozen
Sent to breed

But then grace takes us past Pluto’s shores

A turgid drove descends
Envelops us in spores
Guides our flight
Through the abyss of night
As they claim they have done before

A precision slingshot
From the orbital plane
Towards a boreal beacon
And we shall live again

Escape to the Goat Stars
Nourish with hope those who remained

Primal light
Save our souls
Take away our pain

Eons pass
When at last
From the void
Emerge two giant double stars

Time starts anew
For polyps long forsaken
In the heart of our icy tomb
Ancient bodies reawaken

The depths of the Northern sky
Yield a blaze
Like a slow explosion
An embrace of rays

Twin bloated suns spiral
Devour the firmament
In their glow, our comet world
Becomes germinant again

Then suddenly, two more suns
Join the dance from afar
And in between, a planet swerves
Awkward and bizarre

Tugged from orbit
Of fiery death
It seeks the smaller twins
And in its wake a satellite
A moon for our kin

Wobbly seasons now ensue
Tempered freeze and thaw
As we swirl about the moon
And ever closer to it draw

Conjoin
Withdraw
Our vessel set to smash
Brace to bore
Into the crater of our crash

Towards this pockmarked ball of ice we fall
Below its crust a liquid ocean calls

No return now
We came so far
In ice encased
To crash and burn now
Our ship must crack the frozen waste

Collision
Catharsis of an arcane vision

Havoc bursts
Into a million shards we shatter
Get submersed
Into gaping faults we spatter
Down we squirm
Escape the flash-freeze of the void
Like undead worms
That refuse to be destroyed

And we’re through!
